"The Throne Room of Lady Time"
A character creation assignment from my Illustration I class. The task was to make a mask of a certain character, then use the mask in taking
reference photos for the final painting. My roommate kindly obliged in both assisting me with the costume and being my model.
The story behind this is related to that of the Masked King seen elsewhere in my gallery. I started wondering about how it was he became the
Masked King, and this is sort of the result. The idea is that the Masked King was once an arrogant, vain Prince (as many princes are) and, having
everything that he desired, he went after the one thing that he could not have: Lady Time. First he tried to seduce her, and when that failed he
struck a deal with her, involving the possession of a certain crystal ball, which can be used to manipulate time. He was unable to keep up his end
of the bargain, however, and things didn't go so well for him, resulting in his exile and transformation. Finally he stole the crystal from her. The Lady
is still most displeased about this.
This scene shows Lady Time in her throne room, waiting for the Prince to arrive with his half of their bargain. However, it's been quite a while
already, and the Lady is growing impatient...
